BPOTC Training Centre

Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre (BPOTC) is a renowned training institute of Nepal which is dedicated to training of peacekeepers for employment in various UNPKO. It is located at Panchkhal which is 45 km East of Kathmandu and lies 942 meters above mean sea level.

Historically, Nepali Army established an ad hoc "Peace Keeping Training Camp" in 1986, which was subsequently restructured into a dedicated Training centre in the year 2001. With the motto "PEACE WITH HONOUR", this training center was later renamed as Birendra Peace Operations Training Center.

Within a very short period of its establishment BPOTC has made remarkable achievements in producing professional Peacekeepers. Today BPOTC trains almost 6000 Peacekeepers annually prior to their deployment in various PKO.

Recently, the training center has been verified by Integrated Training Services of UN DPKO and awarded UN training recognition for Pre- Deployment training and United Nations Staff Officers Course conducted at the center. This step has proven itself to be a milestone achievement and has paved the way for this center to establish itself as "Center Of Excellence" and a globally recognized Peace Keeping Training Centre in this region. Apart from pre deployment training the center also conducts various specialized courses such as UNMO, UNSOC, UNLOG, UNCIMIC, NIO, CONTINGENT COMMANDER'S COURSE and UNPKOIC. The participants in these specialized courses includes friendly foreign countries and also our sister organizations Nepal Police and Armed Police Force.

The center has continuously conducted multinational Capstone exercises. Shanti Prayas III was the recent Capstone exercise conducted in the year 2017 with the involvement of 1135 participants from 28 countries. It also conducts UN related seminars, Senior Mission Leadership engagements and sends Subject Matter Experts to other countries to further strengthen the international networking of this center.

Apart from training, the center also gives PKO related classes to TU students, Higher Command and Management Course and Army Command and Staff Course. It also entertains various high level international delegations from various nations visiting Nepal.
