On 06 May 2022, the Director of Peace Operations Brigadier Gen Santosh Ballave Poudel addressed the opening ceremony of pre-deployment training of Sher Battalion (UNMISS), EOD Company (MINUSMA), United Nation Guard Unit (UNAMI) and Military Police Unit (MINUSCA) at the Birendra Peace Operation Training Centre (BPOTC). There are total 1,427 Participants in this 14 week long course which is designed to impart knowledge on Unit training, Generic UN training and Mission Specific Trainings.
In this address the Director emphasized on the importance of training in order to perform the mandated tasks for maintaining international peace and security under the UN flag. He also highlighted the threat and challenges for the peacekeepers in this present multidimensional peacekeeping environment and the importance for maintaining high standard of Professionalism and Discipline amongst the soldiers for their mental and physical well- being throughout the mission.
During the program the Director also interacted with the Commandant of BPOTC and Unit Commanders. He also inspected the ongoing United Nation Military Peacekeeping-Intelligence (MPKI) Course and interacted with the course instructors from the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) and student officers.
