COMMANDER OF USARPAC VISIT

Gen Charles A Flynn, Commanding General of the UNITED STATES ARMY PACIFIC COMMAND (USARPAC) and his delegation team visited Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre (BPOTC) on 12th June 2022. The visiting team was accompanied by Assistance Chief of Army Staff (ACOAS) Lt Gen Saroj Pratap Rana and Director General of Directorate of Military Training Maj Gen Sitaram Khadka.

In the beginning, the Director General of Directorate of Peace Operations Brig Gen Shantosh Ballave Poudyal received and welcomed the visiting team at the center. Then, the Acting Commandant of BPOTC, Lt Col Dev Bahadur Chhetri appraised the delegation team about roles, responsibilities and various training activities conducted at the centre. He also briefly presented about the BPOTC concept and implementation plan to develop the BPOTC as a "Centre of Excellence". He further highlighted the approved infrastructure development master plan to the visiting team. Gen Flynn and his team then visited the BPOTC facilities including the language lab and undergoing pre-deployment training (PDT) activities of the EOD unit which is going to be deployed in MINUSMA mission soon. The delegation team also observed the demonstration of UN Buddy First Aid and visited the No 1 Field Ambulance Coy located inside the premises of BPOTC.

After the visit, Gen Flynn and the delegation team highly praised the current contribution of Nepali Army peacekeepers deployed in different UN peace operations and also appreciated the capacity of BPOTC to impart high standard of training to the peacekeepers prior to their deployment. Finally, the visit concluded after Gen Flynn's remarks on Visitor book followed by Memento exchange program.
