The United Nation Military Observer and Staff Officers Orientation Course commenced at the Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre (BPOTC) on 20 June 2022. Total 61 participants from Nepali Army are attending this 10 days long course. The course intends to enhance knowledge and skills of participants on the generic tasks of various appointments in field missions, interaction with other components of UN system including various actors/stakeholders(humanitarian and development including NGO & INGOs), their scope and working ethics that the uniformed personnel should be aware of.
.During the opening address, the Commandant of the BPOTC Col Dil Bikram Subba highlighted about the changing operational environment in UN Peace Operations that demands peacekeepers with a highest level of commitment, preparedness and professionalism. He further emphasized on the fact that Nepali Army has given highest priority in making sure that the highest standard of training is imparted to all prospective peacekeepers before their deployment to make sure that the most professional personnel of Nepali Army will deploy in UN Missions to serve as capable contingent members, observers and staff officers. The course will conclude on 30 June, 2022.
